Please join John Forté for the first private screening of “The Russian Winter” in the Winter Garden of the Embassy of the United States in Moscow at 12:30pm on 28 September 2011.
“The Russian Winter” is a full-length documentary film that features John’s nine week journey of discovery, musical composition and collaboration and performance tour throughout Russia earlier this year. Titled “From Brooklyn to Russia with Love!”, the tour took John and his band across Russia – from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Ekaterinburg (some of which was made possible by the Trans-Siberia Railway). “The Russian Winter” and an album of John’s collaboration with Russian artists will be made public in early 2012. Among the artists with whom John collaborated in Russia are Sunsay, Natasha Bedingfield, Evgeny Margulis, Alina Orlova, Billy’s Band, Zero People, uma2rman, Emch Subatomic, Sergei Skrypka’s State Symphony Cinema Orchestra, Romario, and more. All proceeds from the tour were donated to local orphanages and the international foundations Operation Smile and Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund.
John Forté, the grammy nominated singer-songwriter-producer, is in Moscow this week to launch the release of “Water Light Sound”, his first major release since “StyleFree” in 2009. “Water Light Sound” features collaborations with international stars John Legend, Natasha Bedingfield, Talib Kweli, HD Fre, AZ, Colin Munroe, Valerie June and more – plus a special production contribution from Dallas Austin.
John decided to launch the release of “Water Light Sound” in Moscow as a tribute to the Russian fans who supported him throughout his tour. He decided to have the first screening of “The Russian Winter” at the US Embassy to thank Ambassador Beyrle and his staff for their fantastic support.
